St Albans Little League Player Evaluations

St. Albans Little League conducts evaluations for all players aged 7-12 to understand their level of baseball and softball development in order to place them in the league that will allow them a meaningful experience.

Parents: Please try not to give your player instruction during the actual evaluation and do not approach evaluators to understand evaluation rating of your player.

Evaluation Stations:

Running

player is timed 2 runs of approximate distance of home to 1^st base to evaluate speed.  Running is not factored into the rating for placement, just for reference

Groundballs

Player is given 3-5 groundballs and assessed on proper technique to field the groundball and assessed on technique and ability to throw the ball to a person the approximate distance of Shortstop to 1st  base; rating used for placement

Flyballs

Player is given 3-5 flyballs and assessed on proper technique to field and catch the flyball and assessed on technique and ability to throw the ball to a person the approximate distance of Shortstop to 1st^st base; rating used for placement

Hitting

Player is given 5-10 pitched balls and assessed on the proper hitting techniques, including grip, stance, swing and contact; rating used for placement

Pitching

Player is asked to pitch 4-6 balls from Little League distance and assessed on pitching form, consistency, accuracy to the plate and speed.  Pitching is not factored into the rating for placement.  Only used for player draft purposes in AAA/Majors.
